All about IV infusions

IV infusions, also known as infusion therapy, are medical procedures that involve the administration of fluids, medications, or nutrients directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous (IV) line. This method can help with the rapid and efficient delivery of essential substances to the body, bypassing the digestive system.

If you’d like to learn more about our IV Infusions, especially for anti-ageing benefits, boosting your immune system, thorough rehydration, aiding metabolism, muscle recovery, or increasing energy, we have a simple process to help you on your IV Therapy journey.

During our initial consultation, we’ll determine the right IV Infusion for your specific needs. We will then then arrange your paperwork, prescription and blood tests.

Your treatment can now begin and this may be one single session or multiple sessions, based on our initial discussions. Sit back, read a book or just switch off and relax with a complimentary collagen glow drink. Or if you have trouble getting into our clinic, we do have an option on selected days for a home visit.

What Is Infusion Therapy?

Infusion therapy is a medical procedure that involves the intravenous administration of fluids, medications, or nutrients. It is commonly used to deliver treatments for conditions such as dehydration, infections, specific illness, autoimmune disorders, and chronic pain. The therapy can help in direct and immediate absorption of the substances, allowing for faster therapeutic effects than oral supplements.

How Does An IV Infusion Work?

An IV infusion involves the insertion of a small, sterile catheter into a vein, typically in the arm. This catheter is connected to a small bag containing fluids, medications, or nutrients delivered directly into the bloodstream. The flow rate is carefully regulated, and healthcare professionals closely monitor the process, making adjustments as needed.

Once the infusion is complete, the catheter is removed, and the patient’s vital signs and response to the treatment are monitored. IV infusions allow for efficient and controlled delivery of substances, bypassing the digestive system and providing rapid access to the bloodstream for various therapeutic purposes.

How Does An IV Infusion Work?

IV therapy, or intravenous therapy, offers a range of benefits for individuals in various situations. Some key benefits of IV therapy include:

It’s important to note that the benefits of IV therapy may vary depending on the individual’s health condition and treatment goals. It is recommended to consult with a healthcare professional to determine if IV therapy is appropriate and to develop a personalised treatment plan.

NAD+ Therapy: Anti-Aging and Mental Wellbeing

NAD or Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is (NAD+) is an important coenzyme for chemical reactions in the body, making it central to energy metabolism.  This supplement is known for its anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits.  Depleted NAD levels in the body and naturally starts to decline from 40 years of age and beyond.

The primary role of NAD in the body is to transfer energy from one cell to another. In other words, NAD is how we convert energy from food into cellular energy. We also use NAD to ensure proper cellular functioning, to protect our DNA as we age, to maintain a healthy metabolism, and to maintain our circadian rhythms.

Vitamin Infusions for Immunity and Recovery

Vitamin infusions provide a potent solution for boosting immunity and aiding recovery. Administered intravenously, these infusions deliver a concentrated blend of vitamins and minerals directly into the bloodstream, facilitating rapid absorption and maximising cellular uptake. Vitamin C, B vitamins, and essential minerals like zinc and magnesium are commonly included in these infusions.

By optimising immune function, increasing energy levels, supporting tissue repair, and aiding overall recovery, vitamin infusions might benefit individuals with compromised immune systems, those recovering from illness or surgery, athletes seeking enhanced recovery, or those with nutrient deficiencies. Consult a healthcare professional to determine the appropriate infusion protocol for your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Before your initial infusion or injection at Jennifer Carly Cosmetics, we highly recommend obtaining recent pathology results or undergoing a blood test. This ensures that your liver and renal function are in optimal condition and your comprehensive blood examination yields satisfactory results. If you haven’t undergone a blood test recently, we advise consulting your doctor for a fasting blood test. This test should cover important markers such as Full Blood Examination (FBE), Urea and Electrolytes (U&E), Fasting Glucose, Fasting Cholesterol, Thyroid function, Iron levels, Vitamin B levels, as well as Magnesium and Zinc levels. A small finger prick blood test on the day or on the consultation will be required for all patients receiving a Vitamin C dose. These tests are typically recommended annually to monitor your overall health.

On arrival at the lounge, you will be met and taken to one of our relaxation rooms where a Registered Nurse will provide you with a consultation to review your medical history and current medications.

In this consult, the Registered Nurse will advise of the best treatment plan most appropriate for you.

New customers to the Lounge:
Some treatments can be provided by the Registered Nurse immediately after your consult, whilst others treatments may require a script and therefore we would need you to return on a separate day to receive your treatment.

IV therapy may benefit many clients , including those with acute or chronic medical conditions, individuals needing hydration, clients undergoing specific treatments, individuals with gastrointestinal disorders, and those with nutritional deficiencies. As with any medical treatment, infusion therapy may have potential side effects. The specific side effects may vary depending on the type of infusion, medications used, and individual patient factors. Common side effects may include local reactions at the infusion site, hypersensitivities, allergies, infection, fluid overload, or electrolyte imbalances. However, healthcare professionals closely monitor patients during infusion therapy to minimise and manage any potential side effects.

To prepare for infusion therapy, it is essential to follow any instructions provided by your healthcare provider. This may include staying well-hydrated, or avoiding certain medications or activities. It is also recommended to wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms or other potential infusion sites. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to discuss them with your healthcare provider.

In most cases, eating or drinking before and during an IV therapy session is generally acceptable unless your healthcare provider specifically advises otherwise. However, it’s important to follow any specific instructions provided to you by your healthcare professional to ensure the best outcome.

IV therapy can be administered at home in certain situations, but it should be done under the guidance and supervision of a qualified healthcare professional. It is crucial to consult with a healthcare provider to determine if home IV therapy is appropriate for your specific needs and to ensure proper administration and monitoring.

At this time, Jennifer Carly Cosmetics does not offer in-home IV therapies.

The duration of IV therapy’s effects can vary depending on the specific substances administered and the individual’s metabolism. Generally, IV therapy’s effects may last several hours to a few days. The healthcare professional overseeing your treatment may provide more specific information based on the substances used and your individual circumstances.
